End of Year Exhaustion and Your Goals

As the this year comes to a close, I’m sure many of of us are feeling that year end burnout. You’re batteries are drained, you feel like you are running on empty, and the holidays will give you that excuse to eat, drink and party in order to recharge and get ready for next years grind. Be careful though! Although the temptation is high, remember what your goals are, and what you will be sacrificing by giving in to the holiday temptations.

Now, like I stated in one of my previous articles, that doesn’t mean you should cut yourself off from enjoying the holidays. Moderation is key! It’s not worth kicking off January by having to work off an additional 10-15lbs of fat that you had already worked off before the holidays. Why put yourself through that much extra work?! Pace yourself. Establish a realistic workout routine, and try not to use food as your only reward for all of your work this year.

The benefit of the holidays is that generally, for most people, this is a slower time of year. This yields itself to more days off and more flexibility in schedules. Instead of planning to eat your way through the holidays, why not schedule a day at the spa or a small vacation? Find an activity that you would like to do, or simply take some time off for a “stay-cation” at home and rest?

There are a variety of options that can help recharge and rejuvenate you, that don’t revolve around food and prolonging your goals. Try and work some of these methods into your end of year routine and see how much better you will feel when January comes and your goals are still right on track!
